News: New PowerFlex+ 750W DC Laboratory Power supply

New QPX750SP

Aim-TTi introduce the QPX750SP, the first of a new PowerFlex+ platform

The QPX series of laboratory power supplies are designed to provide flexibility in the choice of voltage and current to meet multiple diverse applications. The new addition to the range, the QPX750SP is a single output 750W unit housed in a compact 3U half rack width case with front ventilation and low noise fan assisted cooling. Front and rear power and sense terminals make it equally at home on the bench or in a rack.  The RM460 4U rack kit (available separately) houses one or two QPX750SPs with ½U rack spacing above and below providing full ventilation.

Power

A conventional PSU has a fixed current limit giving a power capability that reduces directly with the output voltage. The Aim-TTi PowerFlex+ regulation system enables higher currents to be generated at lower voltages within an overall power envelope limit. The output can provide more than six times the current of a conventional PSU of the same maximum voltage and power rating. PowerFlex+ regulation means that the QPX750SP is capable of voltages of up to 80V and currents up to 50A within a 750W power envelope. A balanced multi-phase converter system minimizes ripple and improves dynamic performance. This provides unusually low noise for the power level, coupled with good transient response.

Control

A new colour touch-screen simplifies operation and provides the option of data entry via touch in addition to the numeric keypad and rotary encoder. Metering with 1mV and 10mA resolution is complemented by a reading for total power, while operating limits can be set as V, I or W. Equivalent resistance measurements of the connected load can be made at high currents using the remote sense terminals to create a four terminal connection. This gives more reliable results for certain types of component such as magnetics and cables harnesses. The QPX750SP provides an added safety feature whereby voltages above 50V require authorization from the user to comply with SELV requirements ("SELV Mode").

A comprehensive array of interfaces including USB, LAN/LXI and quasi-analogue are standard. GPIB is available as a factory or customer fit option. The QPX750SP is compatible with Aim-TTi Test Bridge software, providing graphical remote instrument control, logging and sequencing.
